History:
Lehen in the year 1942. Cheese factory owner Gottfried Hain is having a hard time trying to cope with bothersome packing materials and a shortage of manpower. What he needs is a packaging machine. Before the end of the war he and Hermann Mieler, a master mechanical engineer, have developed a functional machine. The results are promising. Other cheese factories are also interested in Gottfried Hain's invention.

In 1947 he sets up the company Alpenland Maschinenbau GmbH, or ALPMA for short.

An important factor in Gottfried Hain's work are the ideas and suggestions obtained from his customers. The first machines are delivered to the cheese country France as early as 1953.

Gottfried Hain jr. obtains a degree in engineering at Munich Polytechnic and spends a year in France gathering experience at various cheese factories.

1960 he officially takes over the management of the company. Under his direction the company headquarters are moved from Lehen to Rott am Inn where a new ALPMA factory is erected stage by stage.
A global sales network is created with subsidiaries in France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Spain and agencies in all other cheese-making countries.

Gottfried Hain jr. is the driving force behind pioneering
developments such as the COAGULATOR for the continuous production of cheese curd, BLOCKFORMS for the full mechanization of cheese production, the CUT series of cutting machines for semihard and hard cheese, and the SAN series of packaging machines for soft cheese, all of which have helped ALPMA become the leading supplier of cheese-making and packaging solutions.

In 1985 the company moves into a new office block and in 2001 inaugurates a modern extension.

In 1991 ALPMA takes over LTH Dresden, a plant and mechanical engineering company with some 80 employees, and adds the Process Technology business area to its existing activities.

With a genius for technical innovations and the market's needs, Gottfried Hain steers the company successfully into the new millennium.

His son, Mathias, joined the management team in 2000.

In 2005 Mathias Hain and Gisbert Strohn take on the Managing Directorship. Gottfried Hain remains available to assist them as a member of the company advisory board and shareholder.

2007 is a year of mourning for the company. Mathias Hain passes away aged 42 following a serious illness.

Since January 2008 Gisbert Strohn leads the company as Managing Director.
